What to Expect

Initial Visit

  • Your consultation with your chiropractor is to determine how we can help, how long it will take and the benefits you will receive from chiropractic care. Your first visit is for your chiropractor to learn more about you, your condition, your expectations and to determine how to meet your goals and health potential

Full Health Examination

  • Based on what we find in your consultation we will perform a full health examination during the initial visit consisting of:

  • A Posture, Spinal, Orthopedic, Neurological, and necessary Regional exams. We are able to take  X-rays if required.

  • We will discuss our findings so you may make an informed decision before commencing care. We believe your health choice is your decision.

X-Ray

  • Based on your presentation, we may require to take x-rays to get a full evaluation of your condition. X-Rays will only be taken if necessary.

  • X-rays assist us in diagnoses and to rule out serious conditions that can be causing your discomfort. This allows us to develop the most effective care plan for you.

If you have had an accident your Chiropractor may initiate an ACC claim if required.

Report of findings:

(Second Visit)

  • We will discuss your clinical findings, any x-ray imaging will be explained to you, and we’ll outline our recommendations for care.

  • Your chiropractor will give you your first adjustment, selecting the best technique for your needs.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that focuses on the function of the spine and the nervous system.

The nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) principally controls and coordinates the functions of the body. The spine protects the spinal cord whilst being flexible enough to allow us to move freely.

Any type of stress on the body, whether it is physical, chemical or emotional, can cause the vertebrae (spinal bones) to reduce function and their free movement. When this happens it can cause nerve irritation which may lead to an interference in the communication between the brain and the body. This can affect the function of the body. However this may not always cause specific symptoms, it will lower the overall performance of your body.

Chiropractors use a range of techniques to correct these problems. They can help anyone from newborn babies to the elderly improve the performance naturally by choosing the appropriate techniques for each individual.

The New Zealand government’s “Commission of Inquiry into Chiropractic” concluded that, “Spinal adjusting is a vital, very safe and clinically effective form of healthcare. Chiropractors have more thorough training in spinal mechanics and spinal care than any other health profession. Furthermore, Chiropractic is scientifically-based.”
